Booth Walls

Exhibiting and partition walls to neighboring booths are indicated in the booth sketch and are included in the participation package.

Height: 3.54 m (11'-6")

Width: 0.5 m or 1.0 m (1'-8" or 3'-3")

Thickness: 6 cm (2.36 in)

Material: Hardwood frame with modular honeycomb construction at the center and an additional layer of PLY

Load-bearing capacity of walls: Consult an art handler familiar with your installation needs. The walls carry 30 kg (66 lbs) per 1 m wall panel. Anything beyond that will require reinforcing and must be ordered prior to Load-In. Please speak with Logistics Management regarding the installation of any heavy objects. It is the responsibility of the exhibitor to ensure all exhibits are securely and correctly fixed to the walls.

Special installations: For installation of pieces exceeding load-bearing capacity, wall reinforcement, or special rigging, contact Logistics Management. Drawings with dimensions and images will be necessary.

Custom wall sizes: Prices available upon request.

Custom paint colors: To order walls painted in a color other than white please contact Logistic Management with the specified color code (RAL or NCS). For further information please also see the page Special Construction. Specialized paint such as Farrow & Ball is also available at an additional cost.

lf the exhibitor choses to paint himself, please be aware of the regulations below in order to avoid expensive repairs to the walls:

  • Use emulsion paint only (sheen level: matte, but no silk or satin)
  • Use only solvent-free paints
  • Do not use acrylic paints
  • Do not use silk, satin or gloss varnish

Attachment regulations: The Design Miami / Basel wall system consists of a modular honeycomb construction at the center where there is an additional layer of wood. All forms of attachment must penetrate the central layer to ensure that the attachment cannot break loose.

To ensure safe hanging, nails and screws should be at least 3.5 cm (1.38 in) long to reach the central layer of the wall. In addition we recommend inserting the nails with a downwards slant.
Exhibitors are responsible for ensuring that their works are correctly attached or affixed to the walls. Design Miami / Basel and its suppliers are not responsible for damage resulting from incorrect attachment or installation.

Exhibitors wishing to hang items such as fabric or wallpaper on the walls must contact Logistics Management to coordinate the installation. Physical samples along with necessary fire certificates will be required.

Logistics Management must be informed in advance in writing about heavy installations, i.e. over 30 kg prior to exhibitor load-in, so that proposals for reinforcement solutions can be done. Necessary information to be handed in to Logistics Management:

  • Exact desired location indicated in booth sketch or individual plan
  • Total weight of object
  • Dimension of object (length, width, height)
  • Construction plans of object if possible
  • Images if available

Wall damages: Any wall damages larger than 1 cm (0.4 in) in diameter or a hole that penetrates right through the wall element require the replacement of the wall / door element, and will be charged to the exhibitor at CHF 1000 per wall element.

Nothing may be glued to the walls. Please do not use any varnish when writing or painting on the wall. For any wall repairs, exhibitors will be charged according to the extent of the damage.

Light Aiming

Lights are installed and adjusted by on-site technicians, according to the exhibitor’s specifications on their lighting plan.

For safety reasons, only on-site technicians may install, move or adjust electrical connections and lights. Any damages and failures to the electrical system, as a result of faulty connections, will be charged to the exhibitor.

Please Note

Truss can be ordered upon request by drawing the sections needed in the booth sketch. Logistic Management will verify feasibility and possible options. Note that the truss is resting on top of the walls and may need additional ground support.

All rigging needs to be approved by Logistics Management prior to load-in. Exhibitors may only rig to the truss with approved hardware that will minimize dents / scratches to the equipment and not compromise the structural integrity.

Any damages resulting from improper use of the truss will be invoiced to the exhibitor.

Electrical Connections

No electrical connections are included in the booth package.

Lighting installed by Design Miami / does not require an electrical connection.

If you require one or more electrical connections (e.g. for sconces, video screens, computers or other devices) please indicate the location of the connection in the plan accordingly. We will order the outlet(s) for you automatically. This denotes a 230V electrical outlet. The charge per outlet includes the cost of electricity consumed. The exhibitor is liable to bring adequate adapters for Swiss sockets.

If an electrical connection bigger than 230V is needed, please contact Logistic Management for available options.

Exhibitors are NOT permitted to make their own connections. In case of faulty connections, Design Miami / reserves the right to block the connections. The exhibitor shall be liable for any disruptions and damage that arise from failure to observe these regulations. A penalty of CHF 500 will result per unauthorized connection.

Electrical outlet on the wall including at the baseboard (e.g., sconces, TVs). Please note, that a standard connection on the wall will have visible cables. If you choose a wall connection, please indicate the height of the connection on the plan. To conceal the cables, a special wall element is needed at an additional cost.

Electrical outlet on the truss (e.g., connections for chandeliers, projectors, etc.)

Electrical outlet on the floor. Please note, that the electrician must use cable channels for protecting cables according to fire regulation.
